Essential Oil Infused Lip Balm

This is better than any commercially made chapstick!

Gather Your Ingredients

Yes, I had all of these things already. This ain't my first rodeo.

Coconut Oil (HEB always has this)

Beeswax Pellets (brambleberry.com)

Vitamin E Oil (HEB or local health food store)

Essential Oils of your choice. I went with Peppermint, Cinnamon, and Orange. (I only buy essential oils from YoungLiving.com, but they are sold virtually everywhere now.)

Find Your Tools

If you have children you might want to look in all your bathtubs and flower beds. These might have recently been used in an important turf war between rival Pokemon.

Measuring cup

1 TB measuring spoon

Wooden spoon

Empty lip balm tubes or containers (I got mine from brambleberry.com)

Remove the Lids From Your Tubes or Containers.

Speed will be the name of the game when the oils are melted and ready to pour.

Smell All the Oils!

Because they are delicious.

Measure and Combine.

Measure 1 TB coconut oil and 1 TB beeswax and combine in the measuring cup. Measure twice, combine once! Oh wait..that's something else.

It's Melting!

Place the measuring cup in the microwave. Melt the coconut oil and beeswax using 30 second intervals. Stir between each interval. Keep going until completely liquified. It seems tedious but you wouldn't be complaining if this were chocolate.

Add the Vitamin E Oil.

Add 3-4 drops. This is easiest if you have liquid oil. If you only have pills, just pierce one with something sharp (not your tooth, that's gross) and squeeze out 3-4 drops. Microwave an additional 10 seconds if necessary.

Add Your Essential Oils.

Put in the desired number of drops of oil(s). For this batch I added 10 Peppermint, 3 Cinnamon, and 5 Orange. Feel free to experiment. It's only lip balm! If you don't like it use it on your dog.

Pour Some Lip Balm on Me!

Not really. Quickly and carefully pour it into your tubes or containers. Reheat as necessary if it begins to cool.

Tick Tock

Wait impatiently for the balm to cool and solidify. It only takes a minute but will seem like an eternity.

Clean Off Your Tubes or Containers.

You know you spilled some so just clean it off and move on.

Smooth It on and Enjoy!

Go kiss someone you love. Their lips will thank you!
