Epic Giant Jenga

Sometimes Jenga just isn't big enough. Sometimes you need a 7'-0" tall stack of oversized wood blocks just for the sake of it.

I used 2x4's because they are relatively cheap. Three 2x4's profile to profile is 10.5", so the 2x4's were cut into 10.5" lengths. Each layer is (3) blocks aligned edge to edge. Each layer rotates ninety degrees, stacked to your desired height.

Supplies:

•(18) 96" 2x4 wood studs for a 7'-0" stacked block tower

•Paper/Paint for a logo (optional)

Tools:

•Tape measure and pencil

•Circular Saw for cutting

•Bench Sander for quick finishing

•Printer for stencil

Cutting:

I measured 10.5", and then I cut the 2x4's with a circular saw. They were too long and unwieldy for a table saw.

Finishing:

I sanded all faces and edges on a bench sander to shorten finish time. A router would have produced a uniform edge, but that would have doubled or tripled the time invested just on finishing and I still would have had to sand it. Sanding helps the blocks slide as you remove them.

Stencil:

I printed a simple stencil. Without a logo, they look like scrap wood. With a logo, it makes it look professional. Check out my stencil instructable!

Tape the back of the paper, because the paint will saturate the paper and cause it to tear (I know from experience). You will need to wipe/blot the stencil as over spray builds up quickly.

Summary:

I quickly realized that 7'-0" is just too tall. I would recommend five feet as a maximum height, but even three feet is plenty. With this set, I use it as (2) 3'-6" sets.
