Envejecer Modelos/ Wheathering

El modelismo estático diría que es mi hobby por excelencia, no tiene porque ser el que se me da mejor, pero si el que mas me gusta.

Como se me hace dificil explicar con palabras todo lo que se realiza, he puesto mas fotos, de manera que solo con ella pueda comprender la manera de realizar este efecto.

Con este instructable, intentare mostraros una manera sencilla como envejecer un modelo dandole apariencia de oxidado solo con una esponja, pero hay muchas técnicas diferentes y muchos productos específicos para ello, casi todas ellas son mezclables entre si, sin embargo, esta diría que es la mas económica y he tratado de no usar productos ya preparados.

I would say that static modeling is my hobby par excellence, it does not have to be the one I am best at, but it is the one I like the most.

As it is difficult for me to explain in words everything that is done, I have put more photos, so that only with them you can understand how to perform this effect.

With this instructable, I will try to show you a simple way how to age a model giving it a rusty appearance with only a sponge, but there are many different techniques and many specific products for it, almost all of them are mixable with each other, however, this I would say is the cheaper and I have tried not to use ready-made products.

Vamos a necesitar:

• un trocito de esponja,
• colores de varias tonalidades
• Pigmentos o en este caso, usare tizas.
• White spirit
• Oleo negro

Las pinturas podrás encontrarlas también en sets preparado para ello, sean vallejo, ak-interactive, ammo,.... hay muchas marcas de acrílicos especializados en modelismo con gamas de colores para todo.

We are going to need:

• a piece of sponge,
• colors of various shades
• Pigments or in this case, I will use chalk.
• white spirit
• black oil

You can also find the paints in sets prepared for it, be they vallejo, ak-interactive, ammo,.... there are many brands of acrylics specialized in modeling with ranges of colors for everything.

Para este ejemplo he seleccionado el robot de instructables, el cual he imprimido en resina, en una capa de 4 mm, decir que se partió al desamoldar con las prisas, de ahí la linea que uno tiene en la cabeza pero me sirve para el ejemplo.

Lo primero que haremos sera imprimar para que la pintura agarre sobre el plástico, si tenemos imprimación marrón, podemos usarla como base.

For this example I have selected the robot from instructables, which I have printed in resin, in a 4 mm layer, to say that it broke when unmolding in a hurry, hence the line that one has in the head but it serves me for the example .

The first thing we will do is prime so that the paint grips the plastic, if we have brown primer, we can use it as a base.

En nuestra paleta, añadimos unas gotas de cada color y con la esponja, vamos repartiendo aleatoriamente (dando pequeños golpecitos) cada tonalidad, empezando por la mas oscuro hacia la mas amarilla/naranja, teniendo en cuenta que con cada cambio de tono, la cantidad a poner debe ser menor, es decir, cada vez pintaremos menos conforme el color sea mas claro.

Para obtener una aleatoriedad, corte el trozo de esponja en trocitos, y no haga apenas presión al golpear sobre la superficie.

A continuación, coja el color final del robot (amarillo en este caso) y repita la técnica de la esponja pero esta vez de manera mas insistente. Pintamos también los detalles, a pincel, pero sin llegar a completar los trazos, de manera que quede visible la parte pintada en oxido.

In our palette, we add a few drops of each color and with the sponge, we distribute randomly (by tapping) each shade, starting with the darkest towards the yellowest/orange, bearing in mind that with each change in tone, the amount to put must be less, that is, each time we will paint less as the color is lighter.

To obtain randomness, cut the piece of sponge into small pieces, and do not apply pressure when hitting the surface.

Next, take the final color of the robot (yellow in this case) and repeat the sponge technique but this time more insistently. We also paint the details, with a brush, but without completing the strokes, so that the part painted in oxide remains visible.

Diluimos un poco de oleo de color negro con white spirit y damos una capa generosa a todo el modelo, permitiendo que se acumule en rendijas y al rededor de salientes. Una vez seco, con un bastoncillo mojado en white spirit, quitamos los restos de las capas superficiales, consiguiendo un efecto de profundidad mayor.

We dilute a little black oil with white spirit and apply a generous coat to the entire model, allowing it to accumulate in cracks and around projections. Once dry, with a cotton swab dipped in white spirit, we remove the remains of the superficial layers, achieving a greater depth effect.

Por ultimo, cogemos pigmentos de color oxido, (marrones rojizos, naranjas,...) Yo usé tizas acuarelables, las cuales raspe con una hoja de cutter para obtener el polvo fino. Haga una mezcla de varios tonos usando white spirit y echelo sobre el modelo. Una vez seco retire los restos con un papel, o el dedo. Estos se despegarán fácilmente y quedarán solo en ciertas zonas, además, unificara los tonos y conseguirá un bonito efecto de envejecido.

Finally, we take rust-colored pigments (reddish brown, orange,...) I used watercolor chalk, which I scraped with a cutter blade to obtain the fine powder. Make a mix of various shades using white spirit and pour it on the model. Once dry, remove the remains with a piece of paper, or your finger. These will come off easily and will remain only in certain areas, in addition, it will unify the tones and achieve a nice aged effect.
