We, a pair of freshman students, have created an entrepreneurial pop-up out of a shipping container model for the Make It Modular Challenge.

Supplies

This Instructable is uses a recycled and repurposed shipping container

Basic supplies needed for this Instructable are Paint, wiring kit and a toolkit (plumbing and using screws/nails).

Materials needed are wood, steel and plastic.

Electronics include a fridge, LED lighting and solar panels.

Exterior and interior features include shelves, some stools, a table, a door, a giant plastic cone and a sink.

Steel beams are used as supports.

When making an entrepreneurial pop-up, you want the outside to look as good as what you are selling. We decided to paint the exterior components soft, welcoming colors and even added a sunroof made out of sheet metal and supported my metal beams (modeled in Autodesk Inventor).

A door for entering into the interior and a window for someone to server customers have been added.

Some seats and a table (both modeled in Autodesk Inventor) were added in case anyone would like to sit down while they enjoy their product.

Two holes were cut out of the back walls to allow for electrical wiring and pipes.

A comically large plastic cone is placed on top to literally top-off the look.

Note: Giant cone, yogurt cup and solar panels are all free models provided by Tinkercad.

Exterior Design - Seating

Seating is composed of steel stools and a round table, all of these components are painted as to follow along to the welcoming colors of the rest of the model, chairs can be moved for convenience.

Interior Design

On the inside, room is made for a freezer, but more importantly, shelves are present for storage, a counter-like surface is located at the window for convenience purposes.

A sink is located by the door for washing hands and a menu is placed in the back for customers to view the products while in line.

Sink has proper plumbing using the previously cut hole in the back.

Solar panels on the roof of the container connect to the interior appliances such as the freezer and the lighting.
