For this project we are given a set of restrictions and guidelines to help us get on the right path to success.

Some of the information includes...

-Elements that should be included in the Gym

-A rehabilitation center

-Strength training

-Locker Rooms

-Bathrooms

-A lobby area

-Cardio area

-Aquatics area

____________________________________________________________________________

-How many stories the building will have

-With all the elements that will be included in the gym, as well as the lot size, the building will most likely have multiple stories (2 or 3) ________________________________________________________________________________ - Covid Guidelines

-With having to adjust to covid and having guidelines, the elements inside the gym need to be spaced out properly to make sure there is plenty of distance between everyone.

-Masks

-Hand sanitizer

-Spacing

-Cleaning supplies ________________________________________________________________________________ -Equipment

-The gym is mainly for rehabilitation purposes, therefore many types of equipment are going to be needed.

-Treadmills

-Bikes

-Medicine balls

-Dumbbells

-Bench and squat areas

-Weight plates

-Tables for patients when receiving aid

-Exercise balls

-Recovery machinery

-Etc
________________________________________________________________________________ -Other Necessities

-Business phone number

Design/ Brainstorming

File_001.jpeg

I had two different ideas when brainstorming ideas for the building. Both of them would be two stories with the pool on the bottom along with the bathrooms/ locker rooms connected to them. By having it all on the bottom floor and connected to each other, this makes it easier for the plumbing.

After considering each layout I decided to go with Idea #2

Design/ Construction

2nd Floor.JPG

Now that I had narrowed It down to one idea. I began the building process. For this design I chose to make the model on Tinker-cad.

-On the bottom floor is the registration, lobby, aquatics area, and the restrooms/locker rooms
-The top floor consists of the cardio center, lifting room, and the rehabilitation center which is linked to an open gym that can be used for multiple purposes.

_______________________________________________________________________________ Things to take into consideration

-Lot size - The lot is on the corner of two intersecting streets. The lot size is 8712 square feet, approximately 44 x 198 ft. -Could the outside area of the lot be used as part of the gym ________________________________________________________________________________-How wide it will be -The lot size is 44ft x 198 ft (Will most longer or wider depending on your approach) ________________________________________________________________________________

Explanation Part 1

Rehab view.JPG

With one main part of the gym being for rehabilitation, the rehab center includes space for the customer to be taken care of, but also allows space for the customer if they need the space to move around as part of their recovery.

Explanation Part 2

Stairs.JPG

A big part of the gym is the layout of the stairs. Since most people are going to be in some form of assisting resource (Crutches, wheelchair) stairs need to allow them to travel up and down them. In the gym the stairs are a gradual flat incline, it allows travel to be easy.

Along with the stairs, next to it is an elevator also.

Evaluation

The overall goal of this gym was to include everything that is wanted for the Gym design, as well as to create a simple and effective gym.

-The final thing to include about the gym is the issue and guidelines regarding Covid. At each entry there will be hand sanitizer, and inside each room includes cleaning supplies to clean everything off after a person is done using them.
