In case you ever need a bow tie and it's Sunday and all the shops are closed.

Supplies

  1. Sewing machine
  2. Some elegant fabric
  3. Small piece of batting (Volumenvlies) (unless you are working with very thick fabric)
  4. Yarn, scissors
  5. The attached pattern, or a ruler to draw it out yourself (it's just a few rectangles)

Print or Draw the Pattern

See the pattern in the pdf for the measurements

Iron Batting Onto the Fabric

The batting should be ironed on the top half of the largest rectangular piece of fabric (on the backside of the fabric). Make sure there is around a centimeter of space above the batting, we will need to sew there in the next step.

Sew Middle Piece

Fold Into Bow Tie

With the seam in the middle, flatten the circular shape and fold horizontally in the middle. Then fold both sides one more time in the middle as well. I usually put a rubber around it at this point to keep it together.

Attach the Middle Piece

Put the middle piece around the center of your bow tie and sew together at the back. It will never get fully tight but that is okay, you can tighten it with a sew hand stitches.

You're Done
