Embroidering on Printed Fabric

Today, you will learn how to transfer an image onto fabric. Following this, you will be able to embroider the fabric and make it unique and personal to you!

Step 1: Prep Your Materials

For printing a picture onto fabric, you will need the following:

• Freezer Paper

• A Piece of Fabric (Has to be the size of printer paper)

• A hot, steamless Iron

Step 2: Pick Your Picture

I recommend printing a color photo to really make your piece pop! Mine was a tennis ball.

Step 3: Iron the Freezer Paper and Fabric Together

During this step, it is critical to make sure that the Freezer Paper and Fabric are the sizes of printer paper (8.5 x 11). Next, heat up your iron. But make sure that there is no steam and that it is very hot! Next, make sure that the waxy side of the freezer paper is pressed against the fabric. Now, iron the two together!

Step 4: Print Out Your Picture on This Ironed Piece of Fabric

Now that you have ironed your paper and fabric together run it through the printer. My printer was acting up so it printed out the yellow part of the tennis ball but not the words

Now that the image is on the fabric, you can start embroidering! You can do any kind of stitch you want on the fabric. Make it unique and special to you! For my piece, I have printed a tennis ball and embroidered around and inside of it!
