Elevate Your Desserts With This Farm-Fresh Strawberry Sauce
Strawberry picking has always been one of our favorite family summer activities, and this year, I decided to take it a step further. I picked fresh strawberries from a local farm and transformed them into a homemade sauce that’s not just a jam but also a versatile topping for everything from cakes to ice creams and milkshakes. It’s become a family favorite in our house, and I’m excited to share how you can make this delicious treat too!
Supplies
Ingredients:
Fresh Strawberries - 2 lbs
Lime Juice - 1 lime
Sugar - 1 cup
Vanilla essence - 1 tbs
Silicone Rose Mold Ice Cube Tray (Optional)
Wash and Rinse the Strawberries Well
Strawberries picked from farms often carry traces of soil, pesticides, and other chemicals. To ensure these don't make their way into your final product, it's essential to wash the strawberries thoroughly.
Place all the strawberries in a large bowl filled with water, letting them soak for at least half an hour. Afterward, rinse them thoroughly to remove any remaining residues.
Add Sugar, Lime, and Vanilla
Remove the stems and cut the strawberries into small pieces.
Add 1 cup of sugar.
Add 1 tbs of vanilla essence.
Squeeze lime juice into the mixture.
Mix all the ingredients well.
Cook the Mixture
Cook all of the strawberries on high heat until the strawberries release their juices and the liquid begins to boil.
Once up-to boil, lower the heat to medium, while stirring the mixture continuously.
Continue cooking until the strawberries become very soft, which should take about 12 to 15 minutes, then turn off the heat.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
Strain and Bottle
After the mixture has cooled, use a masher to crush any large pieces of strawberries.
Strain the mixture with a mesh to achieve a smooth texture.
Store the sauce into a clean, sanitized, air tight glass bottle.
Refrigerate the sauce.
Serve and Enjoy
I enjoyed my homemade ice cream topped with this delicious strawberry sauce, chopped pistachios, and basil seeds. Alongside the ice cream, I also froze the sauce into rose molded ice cubes, creating a refreshing summer drink.
