Electromagnetic Gauntlet

In this project I briefly show you how I made my electromagnetic gauntlet. If you want a more in dowry explanation of how I made this I have a video of it on my YouTube channel at this link: https://youtu.be/Jwcob9KQH3Y

The first thing that I did was I cut all of the main parts of the gauntlet to the dimensions of my arm and then I welded everything together except I didn't connect the part my hand goes into to the hinge, just so it would be easier to work with sizing the "glove" to fit my hand.

The next thing that I did was I welded one of the sides onto the plate and attached the other side with magnets, so I could lay a pipe onto both sides and mark where I needed to cut it. Once I cut it I got a momentary switch and lay it onto the pipe and marked where I needed to cut a hole in order for the switch to fit into the pipe. I cut the hole out using a dremel and then filed it down to size. Then I epoxied the switch in place.

After I had the pipe shaped the way I needed it and the switch in it, I welded the pipe to the side of the plate and then welded the other side to the gauntlet and to the pipe. Once I had both sides in the gauntlet and the pipe for me to hold the gaunlet, I measured and cut out the plate that would be in the front of the gauntlet and then marked out three holes, one dead center and then two an even distance from the side of the front, so I could upgrade my gauntlet to two magnets once I got a second one. Then I drilled those three holes and tapped them with a 1/4in tap.

Once I had the front plate done I welded it onto the gauntlet and then welded the front part of the gauntlet to the rest of it attaching it to the hinge.

The next thing that I did was after I welded everything together I covered all the bare metal surfaces with foam that I cut to size and hit glued into place. Then I drilled three holes in the mounting plate for the batteries and then punched three holes in a piece of Velcro and popped rivets going through the Velcro and the metal plate and then owned them over. Once I did that I attached the final piece of foam to coat the rivets and then tsprat painted it all flat black.

Once I had the whole gauntlet done I wired everything up and connected one battery pack to the switch then to the electromagnet and then back to the battery back to make a simple circuit and the glove was done. I plugged in 4 lithium 18650 batteries and now I can lift up to 80lbs with this gauntlet. Later on I plan to upgrade this so it can hold up to 160lbs so it can hold my full body weight.
