First of all I took some penny newer than 1982 because they are 92% Zinc. I took some coins and sanded the tail side of the coin using 100 grid sand paper. While I was sanding my coins I found it very time consuming to sand the coin by holding it in one hand. So I used double-sided tape in a wooden base and then put the tail side of the coin facing up on the tape. As a result I could sand the coins with both my hands and it got easier than before. I stopped sanding when the tail sides of the coin was completely gray. As I sanded the coins on the double-sided tape, because of the friction the tape melted down and made my coins sticky. So I used adheser to remove the sticky layer of tape from the coin and it turned out very well.So my coins were very smooth an looked like new!

Preparing the Battery

How To Make a 3 Penny Battery

I took some coins and placed them on a cardboard .I cut the cardboard on the size of the coins. Then I kept the cardboard pieces in vinegar. For about 2 mins. Then I placed them on the aluminium foil in the pattern given in the picture. The battery is now done . The upper side of the coin is the positive side and the lower side is the negative side. I stacked 10 coins on the battery. With That power I could light two LEDs at once. However , I thought - For how long can the battery last? So I attached an LED with the battery and taped it well with electric tape. I light it up on 2/12/2014 and it's still on!!!! It's glowing continuously for 4 days. I don't know how much more will it last. However, share what you think and if you have a question please let me know in the comments .

-Thank You
