Electrical Outlet Stabilization Spacers - Fix Loose Outlets

When the electrical box sits too deep behind the drywall it is difficult to get the actual outlet itself not to wabble, the cover taking much of the stress. 3D printed spacers are used to stabilize the outlet to the electrical box keeping the outlet flush with the wall face.

Supplies

  • 3D Printer
  • 3D printed spacers
  • #6 x 2" sheet metal screws

Print the number and size of the spacers needed for your application.

STL files include thicknesses of:

  • 12mm
  • 8mm
  • 4mm
  • 2mm

Electrical Outlet Stabilization Spacers
  • Safety First: Turn the power off at the breaker box
  • Place the appropriate size spacer or combination of spacers such that they are flush with the wall behind the electrical outlet or switch.
  • Using the 2" sheet metal screws attach the outlet to the electrical box making it flush with the wall.
  • Install the cover plate.
