Eggplant Pirate Vessel

In this Instructable, I teach you how to turn an eggplant into a pirate vessel.
With only 3 vegetables, you will be able to present a very original sculpture on your table.
I used an eggplant, a red pepper and an onion.
This presentation is available to everyone if you follow this instructable step by step.

Supplies

Materials Used:

  • 1 Eggplant
  • 1 Red Pepper
  • 1 Onion
  • Toothpicks
  • Wooden Skewers (25 cm)
  • Roti String
  • 1 Big Knife
  • 1 Little Sharp Knife
  • 1 Round Cookie Cutter
  • 1 Citrus Zesteur

Prepare All the Necessary Materials and Ingredients.

To make this preparation, you have to work the vegetables very cold so that they are more rigid.

Cut the Leaves of the Eggplant

Cut off the few leaves of the eggplant and leave only the stem.

Cut the Eggplant

Use the tip of the large knife on the eggplant to draw lines to delimit the cut. Then cut to give the actual shape of the vessel hull. Set aside the half that is not to be used.

Digging the Eggplant

Hollow out half of the largest eggplant, in other words the hull of the vessel. Cut thin slices to begin to outline the edges, then dig in with the citrus zester.

The Mats of the Vessel

Drive a Wooden Skewer vertically and another diagonally at the front of the vessel.

Cut the Onion

Cut a large onion in half and peel it. Tear off 5 leaves, from the largest to the smallest.

Making the Sails

Thread 3 large onion leaves on a Wooden Skewer. Then 2 smaller ones on the second Wooden Skewer.

The Guardrails

Cut a few toothpicks in half and press them all around the edge of the eggplant, leaving the same space between each.

The Portholes

Use the cookie cutter to make the holes for the portholes.

The Ropes

Make a small loop with the Roast String to tie to a small toothpick, then extend it to each of them by making a turn of the wire around. Walk around the vessel 3 times. Then pass the rope around the sails. Then tie a knot again at the starting point.

The Helm

Cut a small piece of eggplant and press in a few halves of toothpicks. Push it into the back of the vessel.

The Flags

Cut 2 triangles in a red pepper. Then fix them at the top of the sails.

Place a little greenery around the vessel to present it and bring to the table. Your guests will be won over by this very original vegetable-based presentation.
