Egg Shell Mozaik

Did you ever wonder of all the things you could do out of garbage like egg shells? Well, the next time you bake cookies or make an omlet, save up those shells and use them to create this nice room decoration.

Supplies

  • Eggshells from at least 10 eggs
  • Canvas
  • Paint
  • Hot glue
  • Pencil

Choose What Picture You Want to Make

This is an easy step. All you have to do is find the picture you want to make a mozaik of. Think about what you would like hanging on your wall. Is it an alive or an inanimate object? I chose to make a Mandarin Duck because I think that they are cute and colorful.

Now you have to sketch your picture on a canvas (you can get those at a dollar store). It's okay if your picture is not perfect, because a mozaik doesn't have to be super detailed)

Wash Your Shells

Once you have collected 3-5 egg shells (depending on what size your mozaik is going to be), rinse them so they won't smell bad later. Don't worry much about this though, because after I rinsed my egg shells and left them for a week the didn't smell like anything.

Paint the Egg Shells

When your egg shells have dried, get your paint ready on a pallet and dip the egg inside because painting it with a paint brush doesn't turn out so good.

Break the Shells

In this step you need to break the paited egg shells into pieces. The smaller the pieces the more detailed your mozaik will be but it will be harder to glue them later.

Glue

This is the most important step. You have to glue the tiny egg shell pieces to you canvas. Note: use hot glue. Your hot glue might leave that annoying stringy glue but don't worry you can all ways remove it later with tweezers.

You're Done!

Congratulations! Now you can hang you're lovely art somewhere where you can see it every day. I hope you liked this instructable and that you made your very own unique mozaik!
