Imagine this: you and your friends are having a normal day, and suddenly, the entire world is shot by a shrink ray! Everybody shrinks down to a foot tall. It’s sure is going to be difficult to eat all that giant food. That’s why you have created the tiny pancake breakfast! Okay, I get it, it doesn’t really have a use besides looking really cool, but who wouldn’t want a tiny pancake breakfast complete with eggs, french toast, and orange juice? Lets get started.

Creating the Pancake Batter

Ingredients

  • 6 tbs flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk + 1tbs
  • 1 tbs butter

This batter is almost the same as a regular pancake recipe. The main difference is that there is more wet ingredients to thin the batter, otherwise, you would have a mini pancake as thick as a normal pancake. Combine the dry ingredients into a cup. Add the melted butter and incorporate into the dry ingredients. Slowly add the milk and stir frequently. This prevents chunks of flour in your batter.

Melt a little bit of butter onto a non-stick pan. You want to only add enough butter to prevent the batter from sticking. Using a syringe, pipe the pancake batter onto the pan. Making mini pancakes takes a lot of failed attempts and patience. It took me about 10 attempts to make 3 or 4 good pancakes. Other than that, use the same procedures when making regular pancakes to make these mini pancakes. Flipping them with a toothpick works well.

Tiny Eggs

For this step, you will only need one egg. Take the egg, crack it, and separate the whites and yolk. Put the whites in one bowl and the yolk in another. Use a syringe or dropper to drop some egg whites on a pan set to medium-low. Then place one drop of egg yolk in the center of the egg whites. It may take several tries to get a perfect egg. I had to repeat this process about fifteen times before I got an egg that I liked.

Tiny French Toast

The french toast was made of exactly what you would expect: bread. Use a roller to flatten out the bread. Then use a knife to cut out a bread shape. Dip it into the extra egg whites, then brown the bread on the stovetop. Then add powdered sugar on top. If you want to add fruit and other accessories to make your french toast more like french toast, refer to the next step.

Additional Accessories

To add a special touch on the french toast, I decided to add tiny blueberries. To make these, I broke several drupelets off a blackberry. Then I placed them around the toast. In addition, to make a strawberry I cut a section off of a cranberry and added a thyme leaf as the leaf of the strawberry. I also added a small glass of orange juice.

Admire...then DEVOUR!

First, sit down and gaze upon your beautiful creation. Take pictures and show all your friends. Then, open your mouth and shove everything in at once (or slowly eat each part of the breakfast one at a time). If you like this 'ible, please vote for it in the Tiny Speed Challenge.

Til next time,
