Eco-friendly Orange-Peel Candle
What do you do with the orange peel after you eat the pulp? Throw it away. STOP. Just check this simple, easy steps to build a homemade, easy and fragrant eco-friendly orange candle.
Supplies
1. Oranges (actually need peels, but in a certain way)
2. Knife
3. Leftover or fresh cooking oil
4. Lighter or match-box
Cut the Orange
This seemingly easy step is a little tricky and here's why it is so. I took an orange and cut it into half (pic 2). Carefully cut and peeled off the pulp and saved it for eating. I enjoyed this pulp when you are done with the candle making. It took only few minutes. I removed all the pulp carefully as shown step-by-step (pics 3-5). Making sure to keep the center of the orange intact. This acts as a natural wick. The candle base is ready.
Add Oil and Light the Candle
I decided to make use of the leftover cooking oil instead of trashing it away. I slowly and carefully filled the orange with oil. Lit the candle with a match-stick.
The fragrance is so appealing and we absolutely enjoyed a special candle-light dinner with this humble, simple and eco-friendly orange candle.
