Are you bored on a hot summer day? You should try making some ice cream in a bag! It is an easy and fast summer treat that doesn't need any fancy ice cream machines and you won't even need to take a trip to the store!

Ingredients & Supplies

To make about 2 servings of ice cream you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup of Half and Half
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla
  • 3 1/2 tbsp of Sugar
  • 4 cups of Cubed Ice
  • 1/3 cup of Salt

You will also need a large and small plastic bag. The small one will be used to mix the ice cream ingredients and the larger one will hold the ice and salt.

Mixing the Ingredients

In a bowl or in your small plastic bag you need to pour the half and half, vanilla and sugar in. Do not put the salt in yet as that is going to be used later. Now you can mix it all together. Make sure to use a spoon to get all of the ingredients thoroughly mixed. Once everything is mixed you are ready to move on.

Chocolate Flavored

If you would like to make chocolate ice cream it is very similar to making vanilla ice cream. Just add in 1 1/2 teaspoons of coco powder. When mixing make sure all coco powder chunks are gone. Other than that you can continue to follow the same steps!

Shaking the Ice Cream

Place the small ziplock bag with your ice cream in it (make sure it is sealed) into the larger bag. Then add the ice and the salt into the larger bag as well. The salt is used to help lower the melting point of the ice cream. Now you need to shake the bags. Some good ways to shake it is to toss with a friend or just moving it back and forth quickly. Depending on how vigorously you shake it you may need to add more ice. After about 15 minutes of intense shaking your ice cream should be ready to serve.

Enjoy Your Easy to Make Summer Treat

We recommend serving it with an ice cream cone, but it should taste delicious by itself. Sprinkles are a nice topping to add some flavor. This ice cream is completely kid friendly and awesome in situations like camping where it is hot and you only need ice. It is also a fun edition to neighborhood parties
