Place fabric on cutting mat and measure 9-inch by 9-inch square pieces.

Cut out four squares (if using batting cut out 2 9-inch by 9-inch squares of this also)

Next make two piles with a lining and outer fabric in each. Place the outer fabric pretty side up at the bottom of the pile and the lining fabric pretty side down on top. Now take your zipper and sandwich it face down in one of the piles. You will then take your project to the sewing machine and with a 1/4th inch seam allowance straight stich down the zipper. Tip: as you get near the zipper head it will be difficult to sew past. You will need to lift the foot and move the zipper head past the needle. Then lower the foot and continue with your straight stich. To add durability back stich at the beginning and end.

Zipper Assembly Part 2

Next you will take your sewn project to your second pile and sandwich the zipper in between this pile just like you did with the first. Straight stich this in place as well.

Preparing Zipper

Then you will lay your project out butterfly style and unzip it halfway. This is so you will be able to turn in the correct way when finished.

Making of the Pouch

Next you will fold your project in half, outer lining touching, and straight stich around all sides except the zippered side.

Making the Base

Next you will go to your corners and pull them apart so that the seams are lying on top of each other. Measure down 1 inch and pin at this length. Sew a straight line across. Cut off the excess tail. Do the same to the other corner. This will create a base.

Admire Your Work

Last turn your project! Pull it so it is sitting correctly, and you have a simple zippered pouch to store small bits and bobs.
