Hi everyone,

These customizable pendants are cheap and pretty easy to make, so they're lots of fun!

Supplies

  • paper (like printer paper)
  • tape
  • scissors
  • clear nail polish
  • wire
  • wire cutters
  • map tack
  • jump ring
  • cord or chain
  • optional: printer

Choose Your Design

First, you need a design. There are many options:

  • print designs
  • draw or paint something yourself
  • use paper with nice prints or patterns (like wrapping paper, origami paper etc.)
  • use stickers
  • use stamps
  • etc.

Cover With Tape

To make the paper more durable and shiny, cover your design with tape. The size of your pendant depends on how wide your tape is. For bigger pendants, packing tape is great.

Make a Wire Ring

Next, you need a ring that's the size of your design. You can make wire rings by winding wire around a thick marker or something similar. Then you can cut the spiral into rings with a wire cutter.

Once you've made your ring, you can use it as a guideline to cut the paper with your design into shape.

Cover the Backside

I like to cover both sides of the design with tape.

Nail Polish

To fuse the wire and the design together, I used clear nail polish. Make sure the wire ring lies completely flat and touches the paper design as much as possible. Then fill the ring in completely with nail polish and let it dry. I like to let it dry overnight when I can.

Poke a Hole

Now all that's left to do is to poke a hole with a map tack.

Make sure that the nail polish is completely dry before you poke the hole.

Add a Cord or Chain

Lastly, you can insert a jump ring through the hole. Since I used thin paper for my pendants, it can slip through the gap in jump rings. You can avoid that by making the jump ring overlap or by using thicker paper.

Now you can wear your pendant necklace!

Of course, these are not the strongest pendants in the world, but they're fun to make.

Hope you like the idea!
