Easy Umbrella Solar Oven

A solar oven is an oven that uses the sun's rays to heat up a point at with refactors are facing. This is simple to make and doesn't take much materials. The benefits of using this solar oven is not using up energy and not releasing any gasses into the air. The solar oven will help do much things, such as cook food and help start fires. This oven that I made was able to heat up to 133 degrees in 10 minutes on a 70 degree day.

To have any foods cook on the solar oven, you need to cut off the handle of the umbrella. Cut it as far down as you can before you reach the part of the metal where the umbrella meets the metal to open the sides.

I didn't use a pot or cook food in my solar oven, but I found the temperature at which it heats up to.

To make the reflective part of the oven, cut the reflective paper into triangles that fit your size umbrella. Mine were about 2 feet and 1 and 1/2 foot long (I made 8 triangles all together). Then peel the back of the sticker paper off or glue the paper on. Make sure it's flat, so the sun reflects to the middle of the umbrella and not in another direction.

Set the oven outside, facing the sun. The sun will hit the pot (preferably black) that you are using to cook the food, and it will also hit the reflective paper and the sun will reflect onto the pot. My oven got up to about 133 degrees, for sitting in the sun about 10 minutes.

I didn't use my oven to cook anything, but I found that this oven is super simple to make and it did heat up so much. I tested my oven and the control for the temperature, and found that the temp only got to 105 in the same spot as the oven and 94 when it was in the grass, nearly three feet away. The oven can help cook food or maybe even start a fire.
