Ever imagine yourself as a little puppet character creating new and EXCITING storylines?

Well, first you have to create a puppet. There are many different ways to create a puppet, but this method shown is the easiest, using the most convenient supplies you have at home! The process of making this puppet is simple and shouldn't take long. You can customize your own puppet with different skin tones, types of hair, hats, etc. CAUTION: This project uses a hot glue gun, so be careful not to burn yourself, as glue out of glue guns are SUPER hot! Let's get started!

Supplies

  • 2x Disposable Bowls
  • 2x Plastic Spoons
  • Cardboard
  • Felt
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Hot Glue
  • Scissors/X-Acto knife
  • Any accessories you want to put on your puppet
  • Stuffing
  • Small shirt

Cut Bowl

Cut your disposable in half. You will only need 1 half of the bowl for this (you can throw away the other half or reuse the bowl for another puppet). This part will be used as the bottom section of your puppet's head!

Trace Bowl Onto Cardboard

Trace 2 half parts of the bowl onto a solid sheet of cardboard. This will make the insides of the puppet's mouth!

Cut Felt

Trace your cardboard cutouts onto some felt (preferably red for the inside of the mouth). It's always good to cut a little extra to hide the sides of the cardboard.

Glue!

Glue your felt onto your cardboard cutouts. Do this for both of your halves.

Tape

Tape the two semi-circles together, so they form a circle.

Covering the Head

Glue a felt of your choice, which will be the skin color of your puppet. Glue this around both your uncut bowl and your bowl that you cut in half earlier.

Stuffing

I glued an old shirt to my puppet and stuffed the shirt! A small shirt would work best to fit your puppet. Glue the shirt down to ensure you won't lose your stuffing!

Here comes the fun part! Use any scrap felt and props to customize YOUR own puppet! For the eyes, I used plastic spoons. Cut the scoop of the spoon, and add felt on top to make your eyeballs! I also used a pink felt to make a tongue for my puppet. This section is all part of your creativity though. Make your puppet however you like (ex. glasses, ears, piercings, hat, scarf, etc.)
