Easy Snow Paint
With Canada's fridgid winters we are always looking for a way to entertain the kids in the cold. This is one of my kids favorite activities in the snow. We bundle them up and head outside to paint some snow or make colored snow balls and they love it.
It's very simple to make and is completely edible making it safe to use.
Supplies
- Kool-Aid
- Squirt or Spray Bottles
- Water
Fill the Bottles
Add one flavor packet of Kool-aid to an empty squirt bottle, using one bottle for each color of snow paint that you wish to make. I like to use two of the small packets per bottle to make sure the colour is deep enough to dye the snow well.
I choose to use Kool-Aid mix over food colouring or other dyes for two reasons. First it smells amazing when its sprayed in the snow. More Importantly its completely edible making it safe if your kids decide to try eating the paint or the painted snow.
Fill the bottle(s) with warm water. If its really cold outside use hotter water to keep the bottle from freezing while you play.
Mix It Up
Make sure the lids are secure on the bottles, and shake them to mix the color in. This is a great step for the kids to help on. My daughter loves to shake the bottles and "make the paint".
Go Play
Thats it, the simple paint is made. Head outside and spray away painting whatever you want. The best part is no clean up! The next snow fall will cover the old art making a new canvas or the snow will melt washing away the paint.
