This instructable will show you how to make your very own rock candy! It might take a week or so to start crystallizing, but it's worth it. I apologize for the images being upside down, they were taken on a mobile device and uploaded by a mobile device and for some reason it did that.

Supplies

1 cup water
2 cups sugar
1 jar
String
1 stick
3 paper clips

Boil the Water

Add 1 cup water to a pan and boil it. If you want to you can try putting sugary drinks in the same portions instead of water to see how well that works. You could also do half a cup of Gatorade or other sugary drinks and half a cup of water to give it a flavoring.

Add Sugar

Add your 2 cups of sugar into the boiling water and stir it until it desolves.

Turn the Boiler Off and Prepare

Turn the pan off and wait for it to cool. Once cool put mixture in a jar or large cup.

Make Strings for Crystallizing

Next time how ever many strings you want to a pencil or stick, but make sure they're not too close together. Now just tie paper clips to the ends of the strings, and rest the pencil over the top of the cup you put your mixture in with the strings dipping in. If you want you can use thick, short, candy bars such as Twix or snickers instead, just drop them in without strings and let them crystallize. Make sure to use tongs to get them out directly onto a plate to make sure not to spill syrup everywhere.

Wait Then Eat

It will probably take a few days for the crystals to crystallize at least, it takes a week to two weeks for me. If the surface keeps crystallizing but not the strings, then keep pulling it up to break the surface. You can eat it whenever you want, but I suggest waiting until your completely satisfied worth the structure. You can do a few crystallizings in the same jar before there won't be enough anymore or it will stop crystallizing. The syrup is not very good uncrystalized, but there will be extra that you can't use eventually, so you can do something with it. The finished product you'll be waiting on to crystallize should look something like the image above. Enjoy!
