Start by cutting off the rubber straps of the current flip flops.

The easiest way to do this is to cut as close as you can to the shoe sole and then work the pieces out the rest of the way.

Add Loops

Now there should be three holes in the flip flop sole.

The first step is to make 3 loops that are inserted into the flip flop holes.

Start by cutting 6" of ribbon and then tying the ends together, then pull the loop through the hole of the flip flop. Repeat for the other two holes.

Add Sandal Top Strap

Next take the extra ribbon you have and cut a 2' piece.

Next weave that piece through all the loops as many times as you can.

Finally knot the ribbon together securely and tie a bow. Be sure that the knot is at the back of the sandal.
