Easy & Quick Tam O' Shanter Hat

It's fun and satisfying when you can knit up a cute hat to wear the next day.

Thicker yarn, or two thinner strands, as in my case, coupled with large needles, makes this hat a breeze to knit up in an evening.

And simple enough to do while watching a movie!

~ 50g of yarn

US 11 & 15 knitting needles

Yarn needle for sewing up hat

Cast on Stitches, Rib Knit

Start with US 11 needles

Cast on 46 stitches(for medium), long tail casting on method for better elasticity

Knit 5 rows of ribbing, 1 x1 or 2 x 2

Increase Needle Size, Stitches

Switch to US 15 needle

Increase every stitch you knit by one, by knitting into the front and back of each loop

You should now have 69 stitches on the needle

Now create stockinette stitch until your piece measures 14 cm

Decreasing

You will start decreasing, in a staggered design.

K8, K2tog

K7, K2tog

and so on,

until K1, K2tog

K2tog

You should have 7-9 stitches left(dep on size)

Cut yarn so at least a 2' tail is left for sewing

Sew Hat Sides, Add Pom Pom

Using a yarn needle, feed tail through loops on needle, sliding them off

Draw tightly, then sew hat sides down to bottom.

Create pom pom or tassel if desired

That's it!

Super cute and easy.
