Here are instructions on how to create a ten-step origami dove!

Supplies

Piece of paper

*Measuring tape

*Scissors

*You will only need these if your paper is not a square shape (all the sides are the same length).

Step One: Square It!

Use a measuring tape to measure the sides of a single piece of paper. Then trim sides so that they are all the same length. The square of paper I am using is 6 inches by 6 inches.

Step Two: Flip It!

Flip your square over to the "plain side", or the side you don't want showing. Then, angle the square so it looks like a diamond, with a point towards you.

Step Three: Triangle!

Take the corner on the right and fold it in half so that it meets the corner on the left. Press down on the crease to secure the fold and flatten the paper. This creates a triangle shape.

Step Four: Fold Back!

Take the point on the left and fold it back towards the right, creasing it about an inch from the right edge. This should look like a triangle on top of a skinny rectangle.

Step Five: Fold Back Again!

Now fold the corner on the right back toward the left, creasing it about a half-inch from the left edge. Now you should have a smaller triangle on top of two rectangular pieces.

Step Six: Unfold!

Unfold the small triangle on top until it resembles a diamond.

Step Seven: Fold in Half!

Leaving the diamond unfolded, take the top of the paper and fold it down evenly to meet the point at the bottom. The crease should be right in the middle of the paper.

Step Eight: a Bent Beak!

To create the appearance of a tiny bird beak, slightly fold the the right-most corner backwards and downwards. This should be a very small fold.

Step Nine: the Wings!

Take the top-most rectangle and fold it back up, creasing about halfway up the body. Afterwards, the rectangle piece should stick out, which is good! This creates the appearance of a wing.

Step Ten: the Other Side!

Flip over the paper and repeat the same step on the other side: fold the rectangle piece back up about halfway. This will create the other wing.

Step Eleven: a Bird!

Now you have successfully created an origami dove!
