First, get out your oatmeal and microwaveable bowl. Scoop 3/4 cup of oatmeal into the bowl, then pour 1 cup of milk or water over it, making sure that the oatmeal is submerged in the liquid. If you are using nuts in your oatmeal, put them into the bowl now. Microwaving the nuts actually makes them more tender and more delicious to eat! Next, shake a little cinnamon onto the top of the oatmeal if you like cinnamon in your oatmeal.

Next, put your oatmeal bowl into the microwave and microwave it for three minutes. If you like your oatmeal thicker, microwave it a little longer to evaporate more water. It’s very important that you don’t cover your oatmeal in the microwave, because it prevents the liquid from evaporated. While it seems counterintuitive, the oatmeal won’t overflow because the bowl is big enough to prevent that. Once your oatmeal is done, give it a couple of stirs with the spoon to make sure that it is the right consistency, then add some milk or other liquid if you like a creamy finish. Splash some maple syrup in there if you like your oatmeal sweeter, then add the rest of your oatmeal toppings. Once all of this is mixed in, transfer it to a smaller bowl to eat it. Enjoy!
