Easy Marble Racetrack

To keep my little grandson’s happy I am really trying to find fun ways to keep them busy.  I came across this idea on Pintrest. http://myhomespunthreads.blogspot.com/2011/05/day-5-marble-racetrack-with-serving.html.   So I took the pool noddle and instead of cutting off pieces of the end, I cut it apart and turned it into a racetrack for marbles.  And this is how I did it.

Supplies:
1 pool noodle ($2 each in season)
A serrated knife
Glue
Toothpicks
Shoe box (or small cardboard box)
Marbles

Take the pool noodle and cut it in half length wise.

Lay the two halves cut side down on a flat surface.  Use the toothpicks to hold the two halves together, but pushing the toothpick through the back humps.

Once you have them stuck together, squirt a line of glue between the two edges that touch, and push the edges together.  Let them dry.

Now for the fun part, lay the race track along an inclined surface like a stairs. Put the box at the bottom of the track to catch the marbles.

I had to evenly divide up the marbles between the grandchildren and then I let them run the marbles down the track.  The oldest, was making “trains” by putting 5 or 6 marbles touching each other and letting them go all at once.  How creative, how fun!  Enjoy!
