How to Make a Marble Cake | Easy Homemade Marble Cake Recipe.jpg

In this instructable I will show you how to make a Marble Cake. This homemade moist marble cake recipe is very easy to make. What is a marble cake? It is a cake that has both chocolate and vanilla cake in it. Both batters are baked together and prepared in a way that when you cut into it it looks marbled. Pretty cool right? This cake is super moist and super yummy. If I can do it, you can do it, let's get baking! :)

First let's preheat the oven to 350 F (176 C). Then let's add our cake flour, salt, baking powder and dry vanilla instant pudding mix to a sifter and sift the ingredients into a medium sized bowl.

Crack and Mix

Next let's crack those 3 large eggs and and them to a large bowl. Then add the vanilla extract and beat the eggs with a hand mixer.

Butter and Sugar Makes Everything Better

Now add your sugar and then butter to the batter and mix until well combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl with a spatula as necessary.

Milk and Flour

Next we will add half of the milk and half of the dry ingredient mixture to the bowl and mix it in until combined, again scraping the sides of the bowl with a spatula as needed. Repeat the process with the remaining milk and dry mixture, until the batter is complete. This is our master batter.

Cocoa Powder

Now we will take a medium bowl and add our 1/3 cup of water to it. Make sure the water is really hot. I just put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Next add in the cocoa powder, then mix it with a fork. This will help dissolve the cocoa powder and also release some of the yummy cocoa flavor. This is often referred to as "blooming" the cocoa powder.

Separation

Next separate about half or little less then half of the master batter into the bowl with the cocoa. Stir with a spatula until combined. Now we have our two batters that will make up the marble cake.

Alternating Batters

Next we take a 9x5 bread loaf pan and butter and flour the bottom and sides. Then add some vanilla batter or you can start with the chocolate batter first. Then alternate and use the other batter, etc. Do this a few times until both batters are gone. Next with a butter knife or bamboo skewer, place the skewer in the batter until it his the bottom then do an S pattern through the batter. Next bake the cake in the oven 350 F (176 C) for 45 to 55 minutes until when a toothpick is inserted in the middle of the cake it comes out clean.

Cool and Serve

Now once the cake comes out of the oven let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before taking it out of the pan and allowing it to rest on a wire rack until completely cooled. Then it is time to serve it up! :) Enjoy! :)
