Easy Halloween-Themed Sugar Cookies

This instructable shows you how to make a trio of spooky sugar cookies - Ghosts, Pumpkins & Bats.
You can pick just one kind, cut the recipe into thirds or make all three to serve a plate that can fill a whole party.


You Will Need:

Ghost, pumpkin & bat cookie cutters
Rolling pin
Baking trays
Flour
White sugar
Butter
Vanilla
Salt
Allspice
Cinnamon
Pumpkin pie spice
Pure pumpkin
Icing sugar
Raisins
Chocolate chips
Pecan bits


Pre-heat the oven to 300℉

Sugar Cookie Base

Cream together:

1 1/2 cups butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt

Mix in:

3 cups flour

Separate into three equal parts.

A Tasty Trio

Into the first third, mix:

3 tsp cocoa powder
1 tsp water

Into the second third mix:

1 1/2 tbsp pure pumpkin
1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Into the last third mix:

2 tbsp icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Cut & Decorate

Roll out & cut the first third into bat-shaped cookies. Add two chocolate chips for eyes and sprinkle with allspice.

Roll out & cut the second third into pumpkin-shaped cookies. Add a piece of pecan for a stem and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Roll out & cut the last third into ghost-shaped cookies. Add two small raisins for eyes, one larger raisin for a mouth and sprinkle with granulated white sugar.

Bake & Share

Bake the cookies for approximately 12-14 minutes in an oven preheated to 300℉.
