In this Instructable, I will show you how to make garlic bread. This easy homemade garlic bread recipe is so yummy and only requires just a few ingredients. I love bread and one of my favorite types of bread is garlic bread. It is really easy to make cheesy garlic bread as well. If I can do it, you can do it. Let's get baking!

Follow the simple steps below or watch the short video tutorial or do both. :)
Ingredients and Tools
Ingredients:
- 1 lb loaf of French bread (although any bread will work)
- 1/2 cup of butter (doesn't have to be exact)
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh Italian parsley
- 3 to 4 cloves of fresh garlic, chopped. or 1 tbsp of garlic powder
- 1/2 cup of Italian blend of cheese (parmesan, provolone, etc.) optional for cheesy garlic bread
Tools:
- Knife
- Spoon or spatula
- Sheet pan or cookie sheet
- Parchment paper or a silicone baking mat
Prep the Bread
Preheat the oven to 425 F/218 C. With the rack in the middle position.
Begin with a loaf of French bread. Although you can use whatever kind of bread that you want. I have even made this with plain sandwich bread.
Slice the bread in half in the middle and then in half again, splitting the bread in half. Then place on a sheet pan or cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Make the Garlic Butter
Add the butter to a bowl and soften it in the microwave or leave it out for about an hour before wanting to use it.
Chop up the fresh parsley and the fresh garlic and add it to the bowl with the butter and mix until combined.
There you go a simple garlic butter compound.
Also, if you like you can grate some cheese or buy the pre-grated cheese. I really like to use the Italian blend of shredded cheese. It has parmesan, provolone, mozzarella, etc.
Baste, Bake, Cool
Now baste the tops of the bread very generously with the garlic butter. If you want cheesy garlic bread sprinkle cheese on top of that, generously.
I usually will make half with cheese and half without.
Bake the garlic bread for 12 to 18 minutes until golden brown all around the edges and lightly brown on top. Remove from the oven allow it to cool for a few minutes then place on a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and Serve
Now you can leave the slices big, or cut them up even further. I usually will slice those slices in thirds. It makes it easier to eat and created more servings. I usually will get 12 servings from a 1 pound loaf.
Enjoy!
