Heat the Oil

First let's put about 3 to 4 cups of canola or vegetable oil in a pot. You can certainly use a deep fryer if you like. You don't need to fill the pot that full, about a third full is all you will need.

Roll Out Dough

While the oil is heating up, let's prepare the dough. If you are using the frozen dough, you will want to take it out of the freezer a few hours before making these, to insure they are nice and thawed out. Now let's take some flour and go ahead a spread it out on our surface. Then break apart pieces of dough from the loaf, and roll them out with your rolling pin. If you don't happen to have a rolling pin, go ahead and use a can or something else that is cylinder shaped.

Now let's drop one in our oil and fry it. It will take 30 seconds to a minute per side. Wait until it is nice and golden brown, then use tongs and take it out, then place it on a plate with a paper towel, or cooling rack.

Add Toppings

Now add your favorite toppings. I like to use strawberry preserves and powdered sugar. Maple syrup works really well, as well as peanut butter. If you want to turn these into a savory dish, add your favorite taco seasonings on top, meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc. It will wind up being a Navajo or Indian taco. (there are several names for it.)
