What is better on a hot summer day than a nice cold glass of Lemonade? A Frozen Lemonade Slushie, of course! This is a really easy recipe to get an awesome glass of frozen lemonade slush!

If you want to make this uber easy, just buy lemonade or lemonade mix and then you just need ice cube trays and a blender.

Also, I just want to say, I particularly like this method for making frozen lemonade because you are not diluting it. It is just delicious lemonade with more delicious lemonade!

Ingredients:

  • Lemons or lemon juice (I ended up juicing 8 lemons to make 1 cup of lemon juice)
  • Water (you'll need some for the simple syrup, if you make that, and for the lemonade)
  • Sugar or simple syrup

Tools:

This recipe makes about 3 - 4 servings based on how much you want.

Now, you don't have to do this, but it is much better for blending with your lemon juice and water.

This was my first time doing this and I would strongly suggest it as it makes the lemonade so much better and it is so, so, so easy to do.

The directions are provided here by jessyratfink

I wasn't sure how much I would do so I did 4 cups of water and sugars worth.  For my lemonade, I ended up adding 1 1/2 cups to go with the rest of my ingredients.  So you don't need to make as much for me unless you want it for later!

Squeeze Those Lemons

Time to get some juice from those lemons!  Now you can hand squeeze them.  I did that for my 4th of July Ice Cubes, but this time I decided to get a cool and cheap grapefruit juicer and it really helped me get the most out of my lemons.

I just went until I used all of my lemons (8) and that gave me almost exactly 1 cup of lemon juice.  I also kept all the pulp.  Just for fun, I used my hand blender to try to break up the pulp as much as possible.  Put this in the fridge until you are ready to use.

Don't forget to take out the seeds!

Mix and Freeze

Once you have everything ready, it is time to mix your lemonade.  I am going to tell you my amounts, but you can change it to your tastes.  I added things from what I had least of to what I had most of.  Meaning I started with the lemon juice first because I didn't want to start with 5 cups of water, add the lemon juice and decide I needed more when I didn't have it :/

1 Cup Lemon Juice
1 1/2 Cup Simple Syrup
4 Cups Water

(I actually added the cup of lemon juice, a cup of simple sugar, and then water in at a cup at a time and at the last minute threw in another half cup of simple sugar.  It was a good choice.)

Once you have your mix, fill your ice cube trays.  Don't use all your lemonade, you need some for later when you blend the ice cubes.

Freeze and be patient.  Might want to do this the day before.  If you are going to need a lot and don't have many trays, it is good to freeze some, take them out of the trays and put them in your "ice bucket" in the freezer and make more ice cubes until you have enough.

*I'm sorry my pitcher of lemonade is ugly (right), all I ever make is iced tea and it dyes the pitcher after a while.

Once your ice cubes are ready, get them out of the trays.  Now I used a magic bullet, adjust as needed for a blender or other.

I made single servings at a time.  Take bout a cup or two's worth of ice cubes and combine that with about half a cup of lemonade.  I did not measure either so add more of one or the other as needed.  Mix until it is slushie consistency.

Serve and enjoy!

Enjoy!

Just more pictures for your viewing pleasure!  For some reason that lemon always ended up on the right side of the cup, crazy!  I had actually used all my lemons so didn't have one for the picture until I wandered around the yard and found a sad little lemon under a tree and borrowed it for my photo shoot.
