This DIY Personalized Candle is a great way to showcase any picture you want to display in a unique way. Not only would this look great on your own counter, but it would also make a meaningful gift to give to your friend, family member, or anyone else in need of a present. Most of these supplies can be found around your household or can be purchased for a low cost at a store. No previous crafting experience is required to make this project. The purpose of these instructions is to show you the nine easy steps it takes to make this personalized candle!

Print Your Favorite Picture

Select your favorite picture that you will want to use. Next, you will need to upload the picture in a Microsoft Word Document or any other photo editing software that you are able to print from. Then, crop the picture so the dimensions are 2 inches by 3 inches. Next, you will want to ensure that the printer you are using is a color laser printer, which provides the best results. You will only need to use regular paper. Print your picture.

The picture above is the one I selected to use. This picture was taken when my friends and I visited beautiful Sedona, Arizona. This scene brings me an abundance of happiness and I will enjoy looking at this picture daily.

Gather Your Supplies

First, you will need to collect your supplies. You will need:

  • Bowl
  • Credit Card
  • Scissors
  • Heavy Duty Packing Tape
  • White Candle (in a clear, glass container)
  • Printed 2 in. x 3 in. picture

I printed off extra pictures, just in case I needed them

Grab the Tape and Pictures

Cut a piece a tape long enough to cover the whole picture and place it on top of the picture, covering it completely.

Smooth

Take your credit card and smooth the tape over the picture. Make sure that there are not any air bubbles and the tape is completely smooth.

I went over the picture numerous times with the credit card to make sure that the tape was laying flat.

Cut

Cut out the picture, ensuring that there are not any white edges surrounding it.

Fill a Bowl With Water

Grab your bowl and fill it with water. Place the picture in the water and submerge, covering the whole picture in water. Let it soak for 15 minutes.

Remove Paper Backing

After 15 minutes of soaking, begin to rub your thumbs on the paper side of the picture. This will begin to remove the paper. Completely remove the paper, resulting in your picture transferring to the tape.

The paper will begin to create frills. I find it easiest to keep the paper under water while rubbing it off.

Dry

Once all of the paper is removed, let the picture transfer air dry. This will allow the tape to become sticky once again. After drying, you may now stick it on the side of the candle.
