Supplies

You will need to gather a fine-tooth comb, shears or scissors, hair ties or clips, and a heating tool (if you will be styling)

Parting the Hair

Step 1 Bang Tutorial

1.On your clean, dry hair* use a comb to divide hair into a symmetrical triangle extending from the chosen peak on the head, with sides extending downwards from the peak

The peak of the triangle represents how far back you want the longest vertical length of your bangs to go (this affects thickness)

The width of the triangle represents how far horizontally you want your bangs to go across your head.

2.Use your tie or clip to pull unused hair back and out of the way, leaving only the triangle

Bonus Tip:

Having you hair wet is optional, but be mindful of shrinkage when it dries

Cutting the Hair

1.Gather your parted hair and pinch it at the end, creating a bunch and rotating the gathered bunch 180 degrees, to create a twist

2.Use your scissors or shears to cut the pinched hair to the desired length, keeping in mind that your hair will be slightly shorter after styling.

Bonus Tip:

Start with a slightly longer length like at the nose and work your way down to the final desired length.

Framing the Face

DIY Bangs Step 3

1.Small strands of framing pieces may be created by widening your created triangle with additional strands

2.To create this look, you will either cut at a 45-degree angle or a straight angle, depending on the desired look

Bonus Tip:

Cutting your hair at a 45-degree angle will add movement and volume to the look

Cutting your hair at a straight angle creates a blunt and dramatic visual

Optional Styling

To style your hair, you can use a preferred heat tool

1.If you are using a curling or flat iron, gather bangs into a center bunch and curl upwards with a motion of rounding a cylinder

2.If you are using a blow dryer, utilize the same with a round brush while applying heat to the bangs

Bonus Tip:

The same procedures can be utilized on the bangs curling in the direction one wants them to flip inwards or outwards
