Easy Crochet Candy Corn - a Beginners Visual Guide-
Hello Everybody!
I was recently looking online for crochet Halloween project inspiration and saw some really neat little candies! It was just too cute of an idea not to make!
This quick Halloween project is intended for both the intermediate crocheter, as well as the beginners that are just starting to learn this amazing craft! It is made to be a very visual-learner friendly project. This sweet little candy stands at almost 2" tall and can be easily whipped up in a few minutes, this makes it a fantastic last-minute gift! Enjoy!
If you are an intermediate or advanced crocheter then go ahead and get the quick written version of the pattern below!

Supplies
Supplies:
- Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, 4 ply (in orange, white and yellow)
- Stuffing or scrap yarn
- Yarn Needle
- 4.0mm Crochet Hook
- 7-8mm Plastic Safety Eyes
- Scissors
- Stitch Marker
Note: If you are buying stitch markers then I suggest you get the metal ones, the plastic ones break easily from my experience.
Skills Required for this project:
You must be familiar with the single crochet stitch and the increase and decrease stitches. you must also be familiar on how to place and use the crochet hook.
Project Difficulty:
Easy / Beginner
The Top
Begin by creating a Magic ring. If you don't know how to make a magic ring then just chain 2 and single crochet 6 stitches in the very first stitch you made, it should look like a ring shape. (6 stitches total)
(If you used a magic ring) close the ring and attach a stitch marker to the next stitch from the hook.
Row 1: Single crochet 2 into every single stitch around ( Increase around ) (12 stitches total)
Row 2-3: Single crochet 2 full rows
The Middle
Change the color of your yarn to orange by pulling through the new color before finishing the very last single crochet of that row.
Row 4: *Single crochet 1, Increase 1* (2 single crochet in one stitch) around (18 stitches total)
Rows 5-6: Single crochet 2 full rows
The Bottom P1
Change the color of your yarn to yellow by finishing the last step of the last single crochet in the new color (as shown above)
Row 7: Single crochet 2 stitches, Increase 1 (Single crochet 2 into 1 stitch ) (24 stitches total)
Row 8-9: Single crochet 2 full rows
The Bottom P2
(do not change colors)
Okay, if you are a beginner, this is where it might get a little tricky. Try to follow the instructions and photos above as closely as possible.
On every stitch you should see two sides forming a sideways "V" shape.
The back loop is the half of the "V" facing the inside of the project. (BLO= back loops only)
The side of the "V" that is facing your direction (opposite side as the back loop) is known as the front loop. (FLO= front loop only)
Row 10: (In the back loops only "BLO") *Single crochet 2, Decrease 1* (2 Single crochet stitches together) as shown in the photos above. (18 stitches total)
Stuff your project now
Row 11: *Single crochet 1, Decrease 1* (2 Single crochet stitches together) (12 stitches total)
Row 12: *Decrease* along the whole row (6 stitches total)
Cut your yarn and fasten off.
Placing the Eyes
Take your 7 or 8mm plastic safety eyes and poke them so they sit right between the orange and the yellow, 3 stitches apart. For the washers, I suggest placing them on as seen in the photo above (backwards) as this method has stayed in better from my experience.
The Finishing Touches
Start by grabbing the outermost stitches of the last row, bunching them together to close the hole. Then proceed to place the needle in the center of the bottom and pull it through the top loop (white).
Remove the stitch marker and cut your yarn, stuff any visible ends back into the project.
Please share a picture of your finished result, I'd love to see what you made! <3
