These little people are easy and fun to make. Great project for kids too if they like building little things. If you use oven bake clay there is also no need for any fancy equipment. I made a nativity set, but they would make for cute doll house people too. They bake hard, but are a little fragile when complete.

You can use any oven bake clay. I used Sculpey III for these people, but as long as you don't mix brands, you can use any type. Separate the colors into the shapes in the proportions shown in the picture. Kneed each color individually until soft and pliable. Roll into the shapes needed; arms, body, head, hands and hair. You can also make another section for a head covering or sash if you want.

fTake the softened body clay and shape. Attach arms and gently smooth seams with your fingers. Also attach the head quickly to the body while the clay is soft so that it bonds easily. Be careful to not mar the face color with bits of color from the body. Double check your fingers for lingering bits of colored clay, it will rub off where its not wanted!

Attach the Hair, Head Covering and Hands

Now it is time to put on the hair and head covering. Get the general shape made before placing it on the head. Also attach the hands and move arms into your favorite position. Be creative and add life to your figures by having them hold their arms in a natural position. You can also make something for them to hold and attach it at this point.

Follow the baking instructions on the clay packaging. And that is it! Make as many characters as you want!
