Easy 1 Step Rose Jam

At the Canning & Pickling contest 2016 I saw an Instructable about an Easy 2 Step Rose Jam and remembered an easier way to create the same in 1 simple step. Very tasty as a layer in a cake. Pick your favorite rose species (this one is called "Nostalgie") and conserve their smell for the winter.

Ingredients:

  • 25g rose petals
  • 100g powdered sugar

(Or any ratio 1:4)

Equipment:

  • Silicon baking mat
  • Rolling pin

Additional Equipment:

  • Jam jar
  • Spoon

Preparation:

Take unscathed rose buds and pluck the leaves. Sort out lacerated or eroded leaves. Wash them with water and let them dry.

Place all prepared ingredients in the center of the silicon baking mat. With some strength you just use the rolling ping to squeeze and squash all together by rolling it repeatedly. If the powdered sugar slips away from the mid, you just lift the adjacent corner of the mat and thence push the sugar back to the mid. Once you turned everything into a sticky mass your rose jam is ready.

With a spoon you scratch it all together and fill it into a clean jam jar or use it right away on pancakes, sandwiches, etc!

Enjoy your meal!
