Easter Egg Crayons
These Easter eggs are fun, easy to make, and great for little kids to draw with.
Materials Needed
• Glass jar or microwavable container.
• Crayons.
• Microwave.
• Plastic eggs.
Prepping the Crayons
First, take your crayons. Peel the wrappers off. Place in glass jar or something else microwavable.
Tip: you might want to use crayon colors that blend together well. If you don't, your Easter Egg Crayon might come out looking black.
Melting the Crayons
You should now have your crayons ready to melt. Place the glass jar full of crayons into the microwave and set for 4.5-5 minutes. Every 30 seconds, take the jar out and stir with a plastic spoon or knife. Be careful; the jar gets hot.
Tip: Before melting, grab your plastic eggs and have them on hand for when the crayons finish melting.
Alternate Method:
Another method is to fill an egg with crayons, place it in the jar, and microwave for 6 minutes.
Pouring Into the Egg
Take the glass jar from the microwave. If all is good so far, the crayons should be melted completely. Carefully pour this into your opened plastic egg. Try to pour in as much as you can and make sure that no air pockets get trapped in too.
Alternate method: Like the picture above, simply fill an egg with crayons, place it in a jar, and microwave for 6 minutes.
Chilling the Eggs
After you close the egg with the melted crayon inside, put it in the fridge or the freezer for a couple hours. Once the crayon has set, pop the egg open and pull out your new crayon egg!
Finishing Touches
• Taking the smaller bottom of a plastic egg and pulling off the top, make a base/handle to hold when coloring.
• Try different color mixtures, but shy away from too many different colors at once: it will mix and make black.
• If you have glitter, you can add that to the crayons to give them a little more sparkle!
