Give your feline friend a body and brain workout with this super simple puzzle toy for cats!

Easily made with household items, these little puzzle toys can be harder than they look. Fill with snacks and let your cat go wild trying to release them.

The best way, I've found, to do this is to pinch one end of the toilet paper tube in half and press one side down, then press the other side on top. The tube should now vaguely resemble an owl.

Poke Holes

Use your scissors or knife to poke and cut holes toward the middle of the tube. I found this worked best to poke a hole (I used pointy scissors but a pen or paper clip might work too) then poke the scissors in and twist to widen.

I made 4 holes, one on each "side" but you can make as may or as few as you would like. The holes should be big enough for your food/treats to fall out of but so big that they'll all fall out at once.

Fold More

Fold the other end, same as the first.

I spun my tube 180° so that the fold points aren’t the same direction, this lets it wobble more and can make releasing the treats a little trickier.

Open one end to add treats, food.

Give it a shake and toss it to your cat.

Watch as they bat it around, trying to release the treats!

Variations

1.Fresh catnip can be great to stuff it with, as the sprigs won't fall out, but the scent will.

2.Use a paper towel tube for a fun kick toy.

3.Try stuffing fabric strips through the holes for a tentacle/octopus effect.
