EPCOT Spaceship Earth Night Light

IMG_2655.JPG

I'm attracted to shiny, metallic, light-up things, and the Spaceship Earth (EPCOT Ball) attraction at Walt Disney World has it all. I wanted to create a papercraft reminiscent of the shape that I could keep on my bookshelf with craft supplies I already had, so I used some holographic cardstock and coin-cell battery powered LED fairy lights and voila, a new night light was created!

Supplies

  • Pentakisdodecahedron template
  • printer
  • scissors
  • extra-small hole punch
  • straight-edge/ruler
  • bone folder
  • thin double-sided tape
  • masking tape
  • holographic cardstock (8.5" x 11" Foil Cardstock Paper by Recollections @Michael's)
  • coin-cell battery powered LED fairy/string lights

Print Template on Holographic Cardstock

  1. Use scissors to cut along the outer edge of the template
  2. Use a bonefolder to score all the folds (best when done with a straight-edge or ruler)
  3. Use an extra small hole punch to create holes for the LEDs to shine through

Tape LEDs and Assemble
