EHMS Pre-Engineering 8 - Develin (Rehabilitation Gym) Design
This is my gym design for James Develin's Make It Real Challenge, which I put a lot of effort into. This model includes an outside area for soccer practice and a parkour course. It also includes a yoga room, a pool, and many more features. This building is also one story tall to make it easier for people to walk around, so that they don't have to walk up stairs if they are recovering from a leg injury.

Make a Simple Outline/Floor Plan
My floor plan design has a pool area to the right, weight lifting and treadmills in the middle, a yoga room in the back, and an outside area to the left. There are also locker rooms and restrooms near the pool area. The outside area has a parkour course and an area to practice playing soccer. This area is also to make sure that there is more space for people to move around instead of being cramped into one building, so that no germs are being spread.
Making the Buildings and Rooms:
1. Placing a square and then a hole to make a big room to be the main building.
2. Then duplicating that room into smaller ones and placing them inside the main building.
3. Adding more holes for the doors.
4. Making the floors by placing a square, flattening it, and then scaling it to the size of the main building.
5. Change the wall and floor colors.
Making the Pool:
1. Place a square down and flatten it.
2. Scale the square into a rectangle that would fit the room.
3. Change the color to blue to represent water.
Making the Outside Area:
1. Place a square and color it grey to represent concrete.
2. Flatten the square and scale it to size.
3. Add another square and change it to green to represent grass for the soccer area.
4. Flatten the square and scale it to size.

Making the Equipment
I made the equipment in a separate model to make it easier to create them. The equipment I made were yoga mats to stretch on, a bench press for weight lifting, a treadmill to run on, and a dumbbell rack to make things organized. Then some of the equipment, such as the dumbbells, yoga ball, and weights were made with my classmates using Tinker Together. And when placing them inside the gym we need to make sure that all the equipment is 6 feet apart for safety reasons.
Equipment:
1. The yoga mat was made by using a square, flattening it, and then making it into a rectangle. I also changed the colors.
2. The bench press was made by using squares to make into rectangles and then scaling them to size.
3. The treadmill was made by using rectangles and rounded squares.
4, The dumbbell rack was made using rectangles and then angling them to make the sides.

Making the Outside Area
I made an outside area so that people won’t have to be so close to each other when working out, giving them more space. In the outside area there is a parkour course that has steps and ramps, and then bars to climb across. The outside area also has a place to practice soccer for people who would prefer to play sports.
Parkour Course:
1. I made the steps/ramp on Code blocks and them imported them into my 3D model.
2. The monkey bars were made using cylinders.
Soccer Area:
1. The soccer goal was made using a ramp and then making a hole in it, so that I can add in the nets.
2. I made the nets by using Scribble and then sizing it until it fits into the empty space of the ramp.

Exterior of the Gym
I made the exterior of the gym by making the walls a little higher and adding a roof. Then I added an accent wall on where the door is so that the building wouldn’t look too plain and boring. I also spent a lot of time into making the windows and sizing them to fit the wall. Then for the logo of James Develin’s face I made it in a separate model to make it easier to design.
Making the Wall, Roof, and Windows:
1. To make the accent wall I added a square and sized it to be the height of the building and the width of the door. Then I changed the color to make it complement with main building’s color.
2. To make the roof add a square and size it to cover the entire gym.
3. To make the windows I started with the base, which is a rectangle, and then added details to make it look nice using thinner rectangles.
Making the Logo (James Develin’s Face):
1. Using a reference photo from the Make It Real video and images found online, I started with a base of a square that is rounded on one side by a half circle to make the head shape. Making sure that the rounded side is on the top and coloring it to match his skin color.
2. Then I duplicated the shape and rotated it by 180 degrees to make the beard and changed it to brown.
3. To make the mustache of the beard I added a torus and then cut it in half, changed the color to brown, and moved it so that it’s connected with his bread and where his mouth is going to be.
4. To make the mouth I added a torus and then sized it to be at and angled to make it look like he is smiling. And added that in between the mustache and beard. I did the same for the eyebrows.
5. To make the eyes I added a cylinder and scaled it down to fit the face and colored it black. I then duplicated it to make the other eye.
6. Import the logo of James Develin’s face into the gym 3D model and add it to the accent wall, as well as adding the word “Gym” under it.

Conclusion
I hope you like the design that I made for James Develin’s Make It Real Challenge because I spent a lot of time designing and making it. Have a Good Day!
