EASY PAPER PLATE SPIDER

This is a cute spider that can be made from everyday objects.

For this project, you will need:

1: 1 round paper plate

2: Dark brown acrylic paint (if you don't have dark brown, any other dark color will also work)

3: 1 medium paintbrush

4: 1 hot glue gun

5: 8 brand new #2 pencils

6: 1 white colored pencil/crayon

7: 1 red colored pencil/crayon

8: About 40 inches of synthetic yarn

9: 1 sharp knife

For this step, you will need your paint, paintbrush, and your plate.

Make sure the side of the plate that you eat off of is the side facing away from you.

Paint the side that is facing you (it may need a second coat).

Let it dry.

Using white, draw whatever face you want on the painted side.

Color the mouth in red.

Paint the other side of the plate.

Let it dry.

Using white, draw an hourglass on the newly-painted side of the plate.

Color it in using red.

Make sure the edges are painted. If not, paint them and then let them dry.

Get the pencils, plate, paint, paintbrush, and hot glue gun for this step.

Hot glue the pencil legs where you want them on the hourglass side with the metal/eraser part facing towards the middle of the plate.

Let the glue dry.

Set the plate up somewhere (see middle right picture above) and paint the legs. They may need multiple coats to be brown enough.

Let the paint dry.

(If one of the legs falls off, just glue it back on, let the glue dry, and continue wherever you left off).

Turn the spider back over so that the face is facing towards you.

Using the sharp knife, carefully stab a hole at the top of the spider's head. (Above the eyes).

Thread the string through the hole in the spider's forehead, and then tie the string into a loop.

Hang up the spider.
