Dynamic Lampshade Inspired by Traditional Chinese Zoetrope Lantern
I am an eight-grade student of St Margarets episcopal school。
There is a broken stand lamp ,I try to remake it
This project plan is based on the principles of the traditional Chinese Zoetrope lantern, aiming to create a dynamic lampshade. The lampshade will rotate when the light is on due to the flow of hot air and will stop when the light is off, achieving a dynamic decorative effect.
Supplies
Lampshade:
- Transparent, high-temperature-resistant material (e.g., heat-resistant plastic or glass)
- Lightweight, high-temperature-resistant material (e.g., thin wood pieces or cardboard) for the rotating parts inside the lampshade
Light Bulb:
- A bulb that generates appropriate heat (e.g., traditional incandescent bulb or halogen lamp)
Support and Base:
- Stable metal or wooden base
Tools:
- Scissors, hot glue gun, glue, screwdriver

Design and Planning
Design and Planning:
- Determine the overall design of the lampshade, including shape, size, and decorative style.
- Design the pattern of the rotating mechanism inside the lampshade, ensuring balance and aesthetic appeal.
Making the Lampshade:
- Cut the plastic material into the desired lampshade shape.
- Ensure there are ventilation holes at the top of the lampshade to allow hot air to circulate.
Creating the Rotating Mechanism:
- Cut the lightweight, high-temperature-resistant material into the predetermined pattern, ensuring the horse pattern can be evenly distributed on the rotating mechanism.
- Use bearings and a lightweight metal rod to create the support for the rotating mechanism. The mechanism must be able to rotate freely.
Assembling
Assembling the Rotating Mechanism:
- Install the rotating mechanism inside the lampshade, ensuring it can rotate freely. The axis of the rotating mechanism should be connected to the bearing at the base of the lampshade.
- Install small holes at the top and bottom of the rotating mechanism to allow hot air to circulate and drive the rotation.
Installing the Light Bulb:
- Install the light bulb on the base, ensuring it generates enough heat to drive the rotating mechanism.
- The bulb should be positioned below the center of the rotating mechanism so that hot air can flow upward evenly.
Assembling the Entire Lamp:
- Install the lampshade on the base, ensuring it is stable and aesthetically pleasing.
- Check the overall structure to ensure all components are installed correctly and securely.
By following the above steps, you can create a dynamic lampshade based on the principles of the Zoetrope lantern, adding fun and dynamic effects to your floor lamp. During the production process, you can adjust and decorate according to personal preferences and creativity to create a unique lampshade.
