Hi friends,, this adventure starts when I fall in love with two old , vintage style wingback armchairs. They were so cute and comfortable to resist and totally bargain. But of course years of dirt, stains and smell on them needs to get rid off quickly. So I decided to Reupholster them which I never handle big diy like this before. At first removed the fabric from the chairs ( u can watch how to video on my channel) longest are the bones good I knew changing material will make a big impact,, but after long search I got really disappointed as I couldn't find any nice patterned upholstery fabric. Then genius idea come to me , Reused the fabric!. I wanted to brighten up without loosing the pattern on it. So after researching about most fabric dyes I kind of understand the logic of it. So natural fabric dyes not able to dye polyester parts on the fabric. (As like when you dyeing a cotton shirt where's the threads they stay same as before.) And the fabric I have it's mixed fabric, so the pattern on them it's cotton and the rest more like polyester,, that's why I choose natural fabric dye
( #Jacquardproducts #JacquardDyes #Idye natural ) fabric dyes can use in the washing machine but my fabric it's too thick , needs move freely, dyeing in the washing machine won't give even results. Then I thought dye bath and dye it in the laundry sink. basically I filled the sink boiling hot water, added couple spoon of salt and 150ml of vinegar. Used 2 pack of Idye Natural Fabric Dye , 1pack violet,1pack purple, they are dissolvable packs, add them in a pot ( old pot, u can't use for cooking again) with water , waiting to shimmer abit then put the dye mix into the (stainless steel) boiled water sink. And then start putting fabric in, make sure your fabric is super clean ( I washed it before) and still wet. First 10 mins important , needs to be enough water for fabric to move freely.. Use a stick keep moved. Then I covered the sink with wrapping foil so water stays hot. I left for 3 hours , every 30mins comeback to it and moving the fabric in the water. After 3 hours rinsed the dye with cold water , and done a quick wash with cold water very less detergent in the washing machine. Dry it outside under shade. Iron it with another material on top to protect the main. And this is it ! Turns out like a special design material! Such an awesomeness on very little effort also saves me alot for spending money on new material.
Pls let me know about your thoughts.
Thank you 🥰

Add dissolvable dye packs ( I used #Idyenatural fabric dye , 1 pack violet+ 1 pack purple )- #JacquardProducts #JacquardDyes - into old cooking pot ( you not going to use this pot for cooking again) let it boil abit.

Make sure the fabric clean and fully wet, add all fabrics into the dye bath, first 10 mins very important, use wooden or metal stick to move fabric. Should be enough water for fabric move freely.

Cover the Sink

Covering the sink with foil wrap helps to water stays warm for longer time. Every half an hour stir and move fabric and let it stay in the dye bath about three hours.

Rinsing the Fabric

After 3 hours dye bath at first rinse everything with cold water then put fabric into washing machine and quick cold wash with less detergent.

Dry It Outside

After the wash hang it outside under the shade and dry it naturally.

Ironing
