Dual Color Design Heat Transfer Vinyl for T-Shirt

This instructable will teach you how to make a t-shirt with a dual colored vinyl design using heat press.

Materials-

Heat transfer vinyl

Vinyl cutter

Computer with Vinylmaster program

Heat press

Scissors

Weeder

T-shirt

Ruler

X-ACTO knife

The first step is downloading a picture. You want to find a design with two colors that can be vectorized, then download the picture.

Open up Vinylmaster on a computer hooked up to a vinyl cutter. Select add image and press vectorize image. You may have to play around with the settings to have it vectored the way you want.

Once the design is vectorized, scale it. Measuring the shirt with a ruler can be helpful.

Pick the first color of heat-transfer vinyl and put it in the cutter with the dull side up.

Press the cut button and make sure the mirrored button is selected. Turn on vinyl cutter and press area test, then readjust if it fails. Repeat until it passes.

Press cut again and pull it out when it's done.

Cut design from rest of vinyl.

Use weeder to remove unneeded vinyl.

Repeat steps for previous cut with different color vinyl.

For this particular design, it would not cut both parts separately.

I used scissors and an X-ACTO knife to cut the two designs and put them together to look like actual design.

The design I used later vectorized correctly, so the two parts of the design could be cut separately.

This design vectorized correctly and the parts can be separated and cut.

Use same steps for previous cuts, except select the part you want for the color you choose.

Weed when you are done.

Place cut vinyl on shirt sticky side down.

Make sure you do one part of each design per press.

Place cover on design.

Turn on heat press and let it heat up.

Push down press and the timer should be set to 45 seconds, then press start.

Pull up when time is up (should have alarm).

Let cool down, then peel off transparent part of vinyl slowly.

Match up other parts to what's already heated on.

Place cover over design and repeat heating process.

Your customized t-shirt is now completed.
