Droplets of Sati

This documentation was created as part of the course MAS.S60 Critical Matter: Emotive Design from Fashion to Urban Scale, taught by Dr. Behnaz Farahi at the MIT Media Lab, Fall 2025. Team members: Melo Chen, Raphael Li, May Choy, Lilith Ren, Raine Sha

In our concept, each droplet is a small unit of shared attention. A moment you and another person keep together. The system turns pulse, sound, and light into cues that help two people repeatedly return to the same present, where memory can resurface gently and be renegotiated as a shared experience rather than a fixed story.

Pre-Meditation

During the pre-meditation phase, two users will share their answers towards a shared question and two individual questions. The AI system will then process and generate the droplet color for each user and a ambient music.

Meditation

During the meditation phase, our device will transform the breath from users to controll the droplet. Users will hear another user's dropper and try to synchronize through this process.
