Drink With the Plants!
I decided to make a project in which I will reuse items that I previously seemed unnecessary and intended to be thrown away. I looked around for such items and my gaze lingered on the Coke can.
A mini garden made of old cans, in which small plants will grow, is a good idea! Especially when it is combined with automatic watering of these plants when you drink yourself!
Supplies
- Coke can
- Arduino Nano
- Breadboard
- Connecting cables
- 12V water pump
- 12V relay
- HCSR04 ultrasonic sensor
What Is Needed to Do This Project?
- Coke can
- Arduino Nano
- Breadboard
- Connecting cables
- 12V water pump
- 12V relay
- HCSR04 ultrasonic sensor
What Does Electronics Work?
The ultrasonic sensor detects whether there is a water bottle within its range and sends information about the distance to the Arduino Nano. The Arduino processes this information and controls the water pump with a relay that separates the 12V needed to power the pump from the logic 5V.
Creating a Flower Pot
The fact that I was able to use items that were originally intended to be thrown propelled me to action! I took the can, cleaned it, and cut it in half. I will use these halves to create "pots".
Creating a Rack
From my previous project, i.e. 'IoT Box', I have pieces of wooden board left. I divided them into 8x6cm and 2x5cm pieces and glued them together with hot glue. After it cooled down, the stand was ready :)
Finalization
The only thing left to do is stick the can pot to the stand with glue, prepare a water tank, put the pump in it, and put the swabs into the pot. Now the mini garden is ready! What are you going to sow in it?
