Drawstring Bag From Old Tee
Instead of throwing old t-shirts away, you can recycle them by making this cool diy homemade drawstring bag. It's lightweight, hand sewn, and durable, made with simple materials.
Supplies
- Old t-shirts x2
- Needle and thread
- Paracord
- Scissors
Cut Out Pieces
Cut the shirt through both layers as shown in the pictures. This will leave you with 4 pieces.
Sew the Sides
Fold the small piece over the large piece so that the 12" sides line up. Sew along the edge. Repeat with the other 2 pieces.
Make the Cording Hole
Unfold so the seam is facing up. Measure 2" down from the top, and make a 1/2" cut there. Fold the fabric in on itself so that is is 1/4" in. fold it again so that it is 1/2" in. Sew as shown in the 2nd picture to hold it in place. Repeat on all 4 top corners. Fold in the top a 1/2". Fold it again so that it is even with the indent. Sew as shown in the 4th picture. This will be the hole that the cord goes through.
Sew the Sides Together
Lay the 2 sides on top of each other with the seams facing OUTWARDS. Sew along all edges, but on the 2 bottom corners, leave an 1" gap as shown in the last picture.
Attach Paracord
I'm sorry that there are no super helpful pictures on this step, but they didn't save when I was making this, so I'll just tell you what to do. Thread a 6' piece of paracord through one of the holes in the top. turn it around, and thread it back through the other hole. Repeat this process on the other side.Pair the ends of the strings together, acting as if each pair was one string. Bring both strings inside the bag, and thread them through the 1" holes you left on the bottom sides. Tie the strings together according to their pairs, and sew in place. Inside-out the bag, and you should have a drawstring bag! If you don't understand these instructions, feel free to ask any questions you might have.
