Drawing a City in 2 Point Perspective
Hello! This step by step tutorial will show you how to draw a city in 2 point perspective. This is a technique that many artists use and anyone can do it.
Supplies
For this all you need is any pencil, an eraser, a ruler, and a piece of paper
Horizon Line
With a ruler, draw a horizontal line across your page. This is the horizon line. Then make two points on the line somewhere at each end. These will be your vanishing points.
The Road
To create the road, take your ruler and draw a line from one of the points and then the other and connect the lines in the middle. Do this again and draw at more of an angle so you have that road.
The Building
To draw a building, start off by drawing a straight line anywhere beside the road.
Use the point on the left as a guide for the lines fo the left side of the buildings. Connect your ruler to the point and the bottom of your line. Draw a line, starting from the bottom of the straight line.
Complete the left side of the building my drawing a line.
Use the same method to draw the right side of the building. Use the point on the right as reference.
Use this method to create more buildings.
Foreground
Make sure to draw some buildings in the foreground as well. If the top of your building is below the horizon line make sure to draw the roof of the building.
If you aren’t drawing a straight line, all of your lines should point towards one of the vanishing points.
Windows
To create the buildings. Use your ruler to draw a row of lines that points towards the vanishing points. Make sure to leave space between the lines. Draw a straight line to finish off the sides of the windows.
Sidewalk
To draw the lines of the sidewalk. Keep the end of your ruler at the far point. Draw the lines, as the lines get rather away and closer to the horizon line, the lines show get closer together.
Finish
Add more building and as many details as you’d like. You can even color it if you wanted.
I hope this was helpful! Thanks for checking out this tutorial.
