Draw With Oil

Good afternoon friends! I started this hobby in my high school years. With watercolor and gouache, I smeared school wall newspapers. Then he was drafted into the armed forces for three years. And at the moment when I was guilty and I was sent to the guardhouse, I did my two public works with oil. I was given two walls in the canteen, 2.5 x 5 meters for a take-off plane and 2.5 x 3 meters for a submarine in the raging sea. I served 35 days then. While working, I realized that working with oil is very simple. Smears applied for a long time are amenable to color mixing and the most pleasant, with an unsuccessful fragment, you can paint the defective area and fix everything.

Of course, trying your hand is expensive, you tell me. But without trying, you will not know. I will say one thing, it is easier to work with oil than with watercolor and gouache, the canvas can easily be replaced with a piece of DVP, it is only worth muddling it.

Who has not yet tried to write oil, I can advise:

Oil paints, artistic, preferably 12 colors, in a tube of 10 ml. You can do with and six, because mixing blue with yellow - you get green, red and blue - purple, green and red - brown and. etc. But it is easier and faster to select the desired color from a more diverse palette.

The brush is a continuation of your hand, for oil the brush is chosen tougher, for me it is better from a pork pile. Flat-format brushes, used for wide-format spelling, and thin round-shape brushes, for working with small parts.

Dissolve the paints with linseed oil. For (applying a transparent layer of paint to the top applied), use bleached, and otherwise linseed oil cold squeezed out from the pharmacy.

As a palette, you can use any flat object that does not absorb oil and is convenient to hold in your hand.

Here everything is ready, a canvas on molbert, paints on the palette, brushes tear into battle. You can make a copy from an already painted picture, you can take the picture you like, or you can dig into the memory. Your job is creativity, not a camera. You draw as you see, as you understand.

I chose a topic close to me, shelves of foliage, a surge of fish in a reservoir, warm sun. Weak strokes indicate the location of objects on the canvas. This is necessary so as not to get lost in space. Then from a far background, I start laying paints. The sky is always a distant plan and usually occupies the largest volume. Water, if present, is processed simultaneously with the sky. So I get rid of re-picking paints. Here I applied a broad brush. Sky, it sets the time of day, morning, day, evening. Clear or overcast. And this affects in what colors you will have to finish work.

Gradually moving to the foreground. Having highlighted the dark places, he took brush No. 2 and began to draw grass. Fantasy has no limit, the main thing is not to get confused yourself, the shadow falls from the sun. Do not forget the left side of the canvas. We must strive, get rid of white spots faster. The left side is darker, and having the lightest part of the future picture, you can compare the correspondence.

This is how
I brought out on canvas, straining the memory, what I saw in the summer morning. Something added from himself that I did not remember, but I enjoyed the work done.

Try your hand, everything in your hands. You will succeed.
